Covid 19 preparation: we have taken a cautious interpretation of the government guidelines to ensure everyone stays safe and to stop the spread of the virus, whilst still providing a relaxing and enjoyable pub experience.
The good news is that we can reopen on Friday 4th December at 5pm with food served 5-10pm. However, tier 2 restrictions now mean you will need to order a 'substantial' meal to accompany your drink(s) inside or out! Furthermore, a table inside cannot be shared by more than 1 family group/household, outside the 'rule of 6' still applies and last orders is now 10pm with drinking up by 11pm.
The beer garden has plenty of cover and we have blankets to loan. There will be a warm welcome whether you are outside or in, where there are 4 socially distanced tables, loads of character and an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove. Please come round to the back of the pub, use the hand sanitiser provided and find a table in the garden or wait to be seated inside...
Our opening hours from Friday 4th December are as follows:
Friday 5-11pm (food served 5-10pm)
Saturday 12-3pm (food served 12-2pm) & 5-11pm (food served 5-10pm)
Sunday 12-6pm (food served 12-4pm)
Please don't forget you will need to order food with your drink(s) and please telephone for takeaway orders.
By maintaining social distancing, with extra cleanliness and by staying alert we will protect the NHS and save lives. Additionally, if you are feeling unwell, please stay at home and seek NHS advice.

The Bildeston Kings Head pub is an award winning traditional Grade II listed freehold, freehouse, run by Nigel & Sue, dating from around 1500 and heavily timbered inside with an inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove.
We serve the picturesque village of Bildeston a former "wool town" in the heart of the lovely Suffolk countryside. We pride ourselves on our warm atmosphere and welcome families, walkers, cyclists, and of course our friendly locals. When it's cold outside, keep warm by the fire while in summer you and the kids will enjoy our outdoor family seating and enclosed play area.
Quench your thirst with one of our own real ales, brewed on site in the old cart lodge at the rear. Otherwise we always have a local guest ale, cider, plus draft and bottled lagers or ciders and our selection of fine wines and soft drinks.
If you are hungry try our varied menu of starters, mains and deserts all freshly homemade with quality ingredients, locally sourced where possible. We are well known for tasty beer-battered fish & chips, delicious boozy beef pie (Suffolk Red Poll beef) and our freshly prepared traditional Sunday roasts. Meals are cooked to order and available to eat-in or take-away. To reserve a table please phone Sue or Nigel on 01449 741434 01449 741434 .
The Kings Head, Bildeston is ideally placed for walking and cycling, there are plenty of footpaths and quiet country lanes to explore and get lost on. Suffolk's many visitor attractions are close by, with the tourist hotspot villages of Lavenham and Kersey only a few miles away.
This year's Beer & Music Festival starts on Friday 22th May through to Monday 25th May 2020. This will be my 12th but the Kings Head's 32nd annual festival - over 30 locally brewed real ales, 7 local real ciders plus decent food, see the Festival Menu, and live music every day. We are proud to be participating in Bildeston's 10th village-wide music festival "B Natural" 4th to 6th September. There's a main stage by the clock tower, musical open gardens and of course live music all weekend in the Kings Head Beer Garden. We will have an outside bar in the beer garden with a selection of local micro-brewery Real Ales and Ciders, including our own Brettvale Honey beer "B Natural" brewed for the festival.
